We are a professional team dedicated to nature conservation through a biocultural approach. We bring together marine biology, ornithology, geography, cultural management, planning, and applied science to protect biodiversity and marine and coastal ecosystem services in southern Chile.
Biologist (Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia), with a diploma in Protected Wilderness Area Management and extensive experience in the implementation and administration of conservation projects. She has conducted research on the ecology of cloud forest birds in Colombia. In Chile she has taken part in numerous coastal biodiversity research and conservation projects, as well as marine environmental education and field ornithology programs. She is author and co-author of several scientific articles and book chapters.
Marine Biologist, with a Master's and a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Management and Conservation (Universidad de Los Lagos). 15+ years of experience in scientific research, environmental consulting, ornithology, marine wetland ecology, and nature conservation. He has taught in undergraduate and graduate programs, and is an active speaker in science outreach and socio-environmental education. To date he is author and co-author of 30+ scientific articles, 2 books, and 50+ presentations at scientific conferences, and serves as a reviewer for national and international scientific journals. Jaime is FCM's Scientific Director.
Marine Biologist (Universidad Austral de Chile). 20+ years of experience in conservation planning, and in strengthening and implementing conservation projects in marine and coastal areas of high conservation value. Specialist in protected areas and integrated coastal management. Member and Coach of the Conservation Coaches Network (CCNet). He has research experience in shorebird ecology and migration. Claudio is FCM's Executive Director and project coordinator.
Professor of Biology and Science (Universidad de Chile), specialist in Ecology and Environmental Education (Universidad Austral de Chile), and a recognized ornithologist with more than 40 years of experience monitoring and teaching about migratory shorebirds in southern Chile. He teaches at Universidad Austral de Chile's Puerto Montt campus. An active field ornithologist and co-author of numerous published articles.
Nature photographer and computer engineer. A lover of everything that flies, a tireless traveler, and an aviator. A fervent admirer of the beauty of nature. His life has taken him through several cities, but mainly the city of Maullín, in the Los Lagos Region. He devotes much of his time to photography and audiovisual production. Known as "Pepe," he is a close collaborator through photography, video, fieldwork, and as co-author of several published articles and books.
Musician (Universidad de Valparaíso), with a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management (Universidad de Chile). He worked for years on the implementation of migratory bird conservation projects in Curaco de Vélez, Chiloé. He has experience designing and implementing artistic activities that engage communities in nature conservation, linking nature, art, and local culture. He currently works as a cultural manager in Castro, where he continues to pursue his passion for music and nature. Jaime is a co-author of several published articles.
Marine biologist with a master's degree in Science, majoring in Production, Management and Conservation of Natural Resources. With a naturalist's outlook, he has directed his professional career toward the conservation of natural resources. Specialist in trophic ecology and bird ecology. His research areas include the trophic ecology of marine and aquatic birds, special-interest and community-based tourism, and ethno-ornithology. Co-author of two books and 17 articles, 10 of which are indexed. Associate reviewer for the journals "El Hornero" (Scielo, Argentina), Revista de Biología Marina y Oceanografía (ISI, Chile), and The Wilson Journal of Ornithology (ISI, USA).
Marine biologist and Ph.D. in Systematics and Biodiversity from Universidad de Concepción. Specialist in the ecology of benthic communities.
Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain, and holds a degree in Science with a major in Ecology from Universidad Austral de Chile. He is a Full Professor and Director of the Ecology Laboratory at Universidad de Los Lagos. His scientific career has focused on vertebrate ecology, wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, mammalogy, and ornithology.
